Our gem jewelry is all hand-collected in Oregon (except for the selenite). My husband and I have surface collected and dug all of the stones you are seeing in my pendants.

Here is some information about the gems we offer:

Carnelian: Oregon carnelian is a vibrant, orange-to-red, translucent variety of chalcedony (quartz) found in volcanic regions, particularly along the Oregon coast and in rivers. Formed by iron oxide impurities 13-25 million years ago, these 6.5-7 Mohs hardness stones are popular for polishing and jewelry due to fiery color.

Carnelian ranges from bright yellow-orange to deep fiery red, sometimes with white banding, though many pieces show no banding. Carnelian is often found with agate, jasper and calcite blades or druzy quartz.

Carnelian is a powerful, high energy stone known for boosting motivation, courage, and creativity, acting as a “stone of action” to propel projects forward. Associated with the sacral chakra, it enhances vitality, confidence, and passion while providing grounding stability. It is used to combat lethargy, enhance focus, and protect against negativity. Often called the gemstone version of caffeine.

Clear Quartz: Oregon clear quartz includes naturally occurring, often volcanic-hosted crystals, ranging from druzy coatings to rarely gem quality points found in areas like the Cascade Range and the southern Oregon Coast. These, along with agatized thunder egg, and smoky varieties, are popular with rockhounds for jewelry, lapidary, and metaphysical use.

Clear Quartz is often found in veins or seams within basalt. Forms include clear, chunky and druzy (micro-crystal) varieties, frequently appearing with agatized inclusions.

Clear Quartz is commonly found along the Oregon Coast and in volcanic regions. Oregon Quartz is roughly 13-25 million years old.

Clear Quartz is considered the “Master Healer” and a potent amplifier of energy, intention and, in some cases, the natural power of the sun. Oregon-sourced quartz, particularly those charged during significant natural events like the 2017 solar eclipse, is considered particularly powerful for focused energy work and amplifying the effects of other stones.

Clear Quartz activates all chakras, particularly the Crown and Soul Star chakras, bringing the body and mind into harmony. It creates a shield of positive energy, often used to ward off negative influences.

Our Unaltered Gems

Fire Agate: Oregon Fire Agate is often associated with rare finds like Carey plume agate from the central part of the state. Fire Agate is often considered a category of agate that includes flame agate and scarlet plume agate. These stones often feature rich, fiery, red, and white colors. Some fire agate features iridescent green, blue and red flashes caused by iron layers, distinguishing it from the standard, translucent chalcedony.

Agate hunters in Oregon often explore areas with volcanic deposits, such as the Owyhee Mountains, as well as creek beds and beach gravel.

Oregon Fire Agate is a powerful and protective stone, often called a shield against negativity and a “stone of eternal youth”. It boosts energy, fuels creativity, and enhances inner passion, fostering courage and motivation. It balances the root and sacral chakras, aiding in stability during intense life changes.

Jasper: Oregon is renowned for producing some of the world’s finest picture jaspers, characterized by intricate scenic and multicolored patterns formed in volcanic rhyolite. Key, highly sought-after varieties include pastel-colored Morrisonite, Biggs Jasper, Deschutes, Rock Butte, Blue Mountain Jasper and Purple Cow Jasper. Most Oregon jaspers formed in volcanic regions where silica-rich waters filled cavities in cooling rhyolite, often resulting in colorful, patterned “picture” stones. Jasper is an opaque stone and can be yellow, brown, red, orange, blue and green.

Oregon Jasper is renowned for its powerful grounding, stabilizing and nurturing energies, often referred to as “earth stones.” It fosters a deep connection with nature, emotional balance, and resilience. It promotes inner peace, creativity, and stability during transitions.

What makes a rock an agate, what is Chalcedony and what is the difference between the two?

Chalcedony is the broad, microcrystalline family of quartz, while agate is a specific variety of chalcedony characterized by its distinct, banded, and translucent appearance. Essentially, all agates are chalcedony, but not all chalcedony is agate. Chalcedony is usually uniform in color and translucent, while agate is defined by its banding
